Refund and Return Policy

Thank you for purchasing The Record Keepers: Digging for Stories in Canada’s Record Stores. This project was a labour of love several years in the making. As a self-published author, I take pride in ensuring every detail is just right.
Returns & Eligibility Window
You have 14 calendar days from the date you received your physical book delivery to request a return and refund.
Every copy of The Record Keepers is inspected for quality before shipping. But it’s possible we missed something, or that your package was damaged in transit. Refunds will only be issued in the event of product damage during shipping or defective production.
Note on Product Format: Our inventory currently consists exclusively of physical books. We do not offer digital download formats. Therefore, all returns must involve the tracking and physical return of the book item to our distribution facility before a refund can be reviewed and issued.
How to Initiate a Return
To initiate a return, please follow these steps:
- Send an email to our support team at info@therecordkeepers.ca.
- Include your order number, name, and the specific reason for requesting a return.
- Our team will respond with the approved return shipping address and instructions within 2–3 business days.
Return Shipping Costs
You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are completely non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the original cost of shipping (if applicable) will be deducted from your total refund amount.
We highly recommend utilizing a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We cannot guarantee or assume responsibility if your return item is lost or damaged in transit back to us.
Inspections and Refunds
Once we receive your returned book, we will inspect it and notify you that we have received your returned item. We will immediately notify you on the status of your refund after inspecting the item.
If your return is approved, we will initiate a refund directly back to your credit card (or original method of payment) via Stripe. You will receive the credit within a certain amount of days, depending on your card issuer’s internal processing policies (usually 5–10 business days).
Damaged or Defective Items
If your book arrived damaged or defective due to a shipping or manufacturing error, please contact us immediately at info@therecordkeepers.ca with photos of the damage. Damaged items will be replaced immediately or fully refunded at no extra cost to you.
